How It Works

Creating challenges and earning rewards follows our 4-step process:

Step 1: Get Approval

Before building your challenge, submit your proposal in our dedicated Challenge Builders category at SecDim Discuss for approval. This ensures your idea aligns with our current needs and community goals. You can also see what other challenges are being built by the community.

Step 2: Access the SDK

Once your proposal is approved, visit our GitHub Play SDK repository to get started with the challenge creation toolkit.

Step 3: Build Your Challenge

Follow the comprehensive instructions in the SDK documentation to create your security challenge. Design vulnerabilities, write scenarios, create comprehensive patches, and test your challenge thoroughly with edge cases.

Step 4: Submit Your Repository

Once your challenge is complete, submit the link to your repository through the form below. Our team will review your submission and process your reward.

Evaluation Criteria

We judge the merit of challenge submissions based on several key factors:

  • Current Relevance: Challenges addressing recently disclosed CVEs, trending vulnerabilities, or emerging security threats receive higher priority and enhanced rewards

  • Impact & Prevalence: Vulnerabilities with wider impact, higher severity scores, or those being actively exploited in the wild command premium reward tiers

  • Technology Diversity: We embrace challenges spanning all programming languages, frameworks, and technology stacks

  • Technical Excellence: High-quality code, comprehensive test suites, and thorough edge case coverage significantly boost evaluation scores

  • Complete Solutions: All submissions must include working patches and clear remediation steps that demonstrate how to resolve the vulnerability

Note: Reward amounts may be adjusted based on the evolving cybersecurity landscape and community priorities.

Reward Structure

We offer competitive monetary rewards based on the quality, complexity, educational value, and relevance of your challenges:

  • Basic Challenges: $50 - $150 for well-crafted beginner-level security challenges

  • Intermediate Challenges: $150 - $300 for challenges requiring moderate security knowledge

  • Advanced Challenges: $300 - $500 for complex, expert-level security scenarios

  • Bonus Rewards: Up to $200 additional for exceptionally creative, innovative, or highly relevant challenges

Reward amounts are determined by our review team based on challenge quality, uniqueness, educational value, relevance to current threats, and adherence to our guidelines. Awards are subject to change.

Important: Submissions as part of an event, or contest such as Black Hat, DEF CON, are not eligible for rewards.
